Welcome to part three of this special four-post series I have created in attempts to clear some of the air around misinterpreted and missing parts of the Law of Attraction. This series was inspired by a conversation I had with my partner a while ago. Brandon posed some interesting questions and comments about the LOA. I knew that if they were swirling in his mind, they are undoubtedly swirling in many others as well. I want to do my best to try to provide some answers to those questions here.
In the first post, I debunked two major myths surrounding the LOA, and in the second post, I elaborated on a principle that is sometimes left out when people teach the LOA. In case you missed them, you can find Part One here, and Part Two here.
In this post, I will talk about how to use your Inner Guidance System, aka your Heart or Intuition, to discern your personal truth.
Here is the comment that spurred today’s article:
Brandon: I have to be honest. I don’t get a good feeling when I listen to ****** talk about the LOA. Something about her just doesn’t sit right with me. She talks so fast that you can barely understand what she’s saying, and it seems kind of preachy to me.
Me: That is totally, one-hundred per cent okay and good that you feel that way! What we all need to understand is that not every teacher will appeal to every student.
Take music, for instance. There are many genres with countless songs that deliver the same message.
There’s gangsta rap, smooth jazz, psychedelic rock, and everything in between. You will best receive the message of the song in a genre that you are naturally drawn to. I love chill break beats over loud rock songs. Therefore, I am more open to receiving a message sung through a hip-hop song than a rock one.
There are countless ways to deliver the message of the Law of Attraction as well.
Just because you are not drawn to one person’s teaching style or voice does not mean they are full of beans or that the Law of Attraction itself is a hoax – it simply means that their beat is not carrying your feet! You gotta pick up your needle and move to another groove!
It is up to you to find a teacher that speaks to you, and that is why it is so important to hone your Inner Guidance System.
Because out of all the teachers in the world, the only one you ever TRULY need – is your heart.
So, what is your Inner Guidance System, and how do you access it?
Simply put, your Inner Guidance System is your Heart. Your Intuition. Your highest level of Knowledge and Truth. Nothing can slip by this radar detector. It is always conscious of falsities and untruths, and if you allow it, it will always guide you to your best possible life.
Learning to listen to the heart over the mind is a challenge even advanced LOA practitioners struggle with from time to time. In this day and age, it takes constant diligence to filter out the voice of society and everyone else who tells you what is right for YOUR LIFE. In truth, the only one who ever knows what is right for you and your life, is you. Your heart tries to remind you of this.
The tricky thing is, its voice is very soft. It will not jump up and down and shout answers at you. It is more like a soft breeze that gently moves the hairs on your arm. You know it is there simply because you can see and feel your hairs move.
Your intuition speaks in a language of feelings.
Sometimes you might get a sudden thought that bursts to the front of your mind, but more often than not, your Intuition will send you a message through a feeling. When you get tense or uncomfortable while thinking about a person or situation, that is your Intuition warning you against it. On the contrary, when you become relaxed and happy while thinking about something, your Intuition is guiding you toward that thing.
Everything in The Universe is connected, and that comes down to every single occurrence that happens in your day-to-day life. Have you ever dreamed about someone you haven’t seen in years, then ran into them the very next day? Have you ever had an intense feeling that you shouldn’t go somewhere or do something, but did it anyway, only to have something bad happen?
Everyone has had moments of Inner or Intuitive Knowing. A lot of people chalk them up to “coincidences”, or are not even aware of them in the first place. The magic starts to happen when we recognize these coincidences for what they truly are.
Your Heart, which is forever entangled with The Universe, knows that these “coincidences” are actually clues meant to guide you towards your Ultimate Purpose and Happiness.
These clues can also help lead you to other teachers who are here to assist you in your journey.
If you get an uneasy feeling when listening to someone speak about the LOA, or any topic for that matter, that is your Intuition guiding you! Listen to it and move onto something or someone else who grabs you in such a positive way, that you light up like a Christmas tree.
Finding the beat that grooves your mood will help the messages from The Universe come through so much clearer.
A Word of Caution
Now, while most teachers out there have the positive growth and expansion of their students as their dominant intention, there are some out there who do not. Their sole intention may be to become famous or to make money. Because of this, it is extra important to hone your Intuitive Guidance. Listen to the messages it sends you, aka feel the feelings, that tell you who you should gravitate towards and who you should steer clear of.
As a general rule, I advise people to be wary of anyone actively or passively representing themselves as a “guru” or having “the answer”. Things can get rather sticky and dogmatic when people try to trademark a path to happiness. As the old saying goes, “All roads lead home.” There is more than one right way to live, and certainly more than one path to happiness. That being said, there are definitely strategies and techniques that are proven to raise vibration. The key is to apply them in a way that works best for you. Your Intuition will help you find those ways.
Another tip is to keep wide of anyone who tries to charge you vast sums of money to have the secrets of life “revealed” to you. SPOILER ALERT… there are no secrets. That is just fancy marketing hoopla designed to target people who are searching for answers.
By no means is this to say that anyone who creates a program for happier living is full of it. Rather, it is meant to help raise your awareness so you can decide for yourself what messages you best resonate with. The question I always ask myself when I discover a new teacher, famous or not, is – “Are they living their truth?” Are they practicing what they preach, or just glossing it over for the public eye so they can appear a certain way? Again, your Intuition will help you here. If someone is misrepresenting themselves, you will likely feel uneasy in their presence. If they are living honesty and truth, you will feel the love and positive energy emanating from their Being.
The Intellectual Versus The Sage
Please do not think that in order to be an expert at manifesting, you have to own every record in the collection. Reading about something that requires physical application will not make you an expert on it. You should take with a grain of salt anyone who starts their shpeel with, “I’ve read every book ever written on….”
All that tells us is that they are an avid reader, which, do not get me wrong, is excellent! The more you read, the more educated you will become on any topic. However, in order to become an expert at manifesting, you have to practice. Manifesting is a skill, and any skill needs to be practiced if you want to get better at it. The more you practice, the better you will become.
Full disclosure: I have read less than twenty spiritual books in my life, and yet I see the evidence of my manifesting abilities everywhere I look, because I practice constantly.
So, forget about trying to read every book in the world on the LOA, because you probably won’t get through them all anyway. But more importantly, it is not necessary. Make practice your first priority, and you will see positive results over time.
A Simple, Parting Truth
There are countless books, courses, programs, and step-by-step guides out there aimed at helping you reach Ultimate happiness. It can be overwhelming to adhere to all the advice within them, let alone remember it all. The soothing knowledge, however, is that each and every one of those books and programs are born of the same elegant truth: The Truth of The Heart. It is a song that has been sung for thousands of years by many voices, to countless tunes, yet its message remains the same:
I am connected to All that you are, and All that you are from. I am here to remind you that you are an Infinite Being with Infinite Power, and an Infinite Capacity to experience Love and Joy. I want the absolute best for you, always, and I will never ever lead you astray. There is no need to fear anything along the way, even death, for it is not the end you believe it to be. It is merely a transformation that brings you to beautiful new experiences. Even when you forget about me, I will be working to help guide you towards your Ultimate Purpose. I am always here to remind you of how incredible you are, how much your presence in this world is cherished and needed, and how much you are loved. And, in case you weren’t sure – you are loved beyond measure.
And remember, the most important teacher in the entire Universe – is you.
Until next time,
All my love,
Always and forever,
If you read this post, I would be so honoured if you could share it and leave a comment. Thank you so much!
Stay tuned for the last post of this four-part series, coming up in two weeks time. In it, I will share a unique way of looking at the LOA and why it works, and discuss why you should always be careful when choosing what to manifest.
