Welcome to the fourth and final post of this series I have created in attempts to shed some light on hidden and misunderstood parts of the Law of Attraction. In case you missed the other posts, here is Part I, Part II, and Part III.
This series was born of a conversation I had with my partner Brandon several months ago about the LOA. He posed some questions that I knew other curious cats would be thinking as well, so I decided to elaborate on them here.
In this final post, I will provide a detailed description on how the LOA works, and also discuss why you should be very careful when choosing what to manifest.
So, first off, let us define the Law of Attraction.
The LOA is perhaps the most miraculous governing law of our Universe. It states that like energies are attracted to each other. Since our thoughts carry measurable energy, the LOA states that thoughts vibrating at a similar frequency, and consequently, people, things, and experiences also vibrating at that frequency, will be drawn to you.
Here is where Brandon posed a question.
B: How can it be that like energies are drawn together, when we know that equals actually repel, such as magnetic poles? And what about the old relationship saying where, “opposites attract?”
Me: You’re right. In certain instances, opposite energies are drawn together, as in the case of magnetic poles. And you’re also right that there are couples out there who are drastically different.
However, couples who are very different personality-wise still output a very similar vibration or frequency.
This vibration is what initially draws them together. For someone who is quiet and introverted, it can be refreshing to be with someone who is outgoing and talkative. They like that their mate draws them out of their shell, and handles social situations with ease. Another example is a relationship where one partner is an adrenaline junkie, while the other prefers slow, gentle exercise. The adventurous partner enjoys the grounding nature of the other, while Safety Sam likes living vicariously through Ricky’s risks.
While partners can have vastly different personality traits or interests, they will always offer a similar vibration. If the energy in a relationship is ever imbalanced, it is either because the higher vibrating individual is trying to heal their partner or a part of themselves, or the lower vibrating individual is trying to bring themselves up. The energies will always balance in the end, resulting in one vibration decreasing, and the other increasing.
We must remember that we do not choose our mates at random, and no one comes into our life by mistake.
What we see in others is a mirror of our own self. Wherever we find flaw or fault with someone else, we are actually being shown the things we need to work on most within ourselves. If you ever find yourself in a relationship or partnership that feels unbalanced, ask yourself these questions:
- What is this person showing me?
- What do I need to work on?
- What parts of myself do I need to heal?
- Where can I inject more love and forgiveness into myself?”
When trying to understand the Law of Attraction, which states that like attracts like, it can be confusing considering matching magnetic poles actually repel each other. I propose a different approach.
Think of it in regards to Newton’s First Law of Motion, which states that:
“Every object persists in its state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it.”
This law is commonly known as the law of inertia, which states that objects at rest like to stay at rest. Objects in motion like to stay in motion. It takes an external force to bring an object in motion to rest, and it takes an even greater external force to send an object in motion in the opposite direction.
Now, we know that thoughts carry measurable energy. They are physical things. Therefore, whenever you think a thought, you are putting it “in motion.” You have applied the external force and now the thought is traveling at velocity.
If the thought you think is negative, we will say it is traveling towards a black hole. Because you have already sent that thought in motion, it will take a more powerful, opposing thought, to stop it on its path towards the black hole. To bring that thought in a positive direction, let’s say toward a yellow sun, an even greater external force is required.
Whatever thought train you are on, it gets easier and easier to sustain it once it starts. Your negative thoughts like to travel in the direction of negativity, and your positive thoughts like to travel in the direction of positivity.
Each new negative thought is a stronger external force that increases the velocity of the train down the track towards the black hole. The reason so many people struggle to find happiness is that they get carried along the negative thought train and don’t know how to stop it.
In order to head in the direction of happiness, you have to summon an opposing external force (positive thought) that is greater than the velocity at which you are traveling toward the black hole (negative thought). However, if you have fifty cars lined up on the negative thought train, it is going to take one incredibly powerful positive thought to send it in the other direction. It is basically impossible to reverse the train with one thought. Instead, we can put the brakes on, one small positive thought at a time, and gradually slow the momentum of the negative train.
Once our train has come to a standstill, it is exponentially easier to get it moving in the opposite direction, towards the bright, yellow sun. And just as it gets easier to keep the train moving towards the black hole with negative thought, it gets easier to keep it traveling towards the sun with positive thought. That is the beauty of The Law of Attraction.
The better it gets, the better it gets. The more positive thoughts you summon, the faster the happy train goes.
Your continued positive thought is a turbo-boost. It propels you closer towards the sun, where love, happiness, and satisfaction become stronger and easier to sustain.
Sleep is one of the most beautiful components of the LOA.
Even if you’re a two-thousand car train hurling itself toward the infinite black hole one day, you will automatically reset at zero overnight. Every night. All you have to do is choose one positive thought to start the next day, and the train will start moving in the direction of love and happiness.
Now, when choosing what to manifest, always, always, make happiness your first priority.
Do not deprive yourself of material desires, but remember that the whole reason you desire them in the first place is for the good feeling you think they will bring you.
I have met many people who are confused by their manifestations. A perfect example is weight loss. So many people think, “If I could only drop this weight, then I would be happy.” They tell themselves that in order to be happy, they need to lose 10, 20, or 50 pounds. The weight loss becomes the object of their desire, and their actions start to shift to allow it into their experience.
People cut calories, go to the gym, and eventually see the numbers on the scale drop. They enjoy seeing the smaller number, and it motivates them to keep going. They keep up the program for several weeks or months, until something happens. They reach a point where they lose motivation, stop exercising, and start eating poorly again. They regain the weight, and think, “If only I stuck to my diet and exercise routine, I would be the weight I want and I would be happy.”
This is a vicious cycle for many people, who usually end up gaining even more weight than before, because they are so depressed and tell themselves they have failed.
The reason their plan does not work is because happiness is not their primary desire. Instead, they focus on the number they think they need to see in order to be worthy of happiness.
The only way to truly lose weight and become healthy in your body, is to take your focus OFF the weight, and put it ON happiness. You have to get the thought-train heading in the positive direction to see positive results.
The more positive thoughts you think, the more positive emotions you feel. The better you feel, the more you are called to inspired action. The better you act, the better you feel, and the more positive thoughts you are able to think. The wonder of all this is that when you focus solely on being happy, your body will, over time, find its perfectly healthy weight and shape. As within, so without.
Instead of forcing yourself to run on a treadmill purely for the sake of losing weight, you will be inspired to go for a hike in the mountains and a swim in the lake, solely because it FEELS GOOD. Instead of cutting fat, calories, and carbs, purely to reach a number on the scale, you will naturally be drawn to healthy, high-vibrating foods, because they are a match to your high-vibrating thoughts. The longer you sustain your positive thought-train, the more it will lead to positive beliefs. Your self-talk will change from, “I am so fat. No one will want to date me or hang out with me unless I lose weight”, to, “I feel so good. I have so much energy to do the things I want and I love all the new activities I have welcomed into my life.”
The longer you sustain positive thoughts, the better you feel. The better you feel, the more you continue to do things that make you feel good. The more you do the things that make you feel good, the more your body will align itself with feeling good.
The same principle goes for anyone who desires money, a better job, the perfect relationship, more friends, etc. It is fine and dandy to desire these things, but you must have happiness at the root of your desire. If you do not, no amount of material wealth or number of friends will bring you happiness.
It starts with desire, but that will be there no matter what. The ability to desire is hard-wired within us all. It is the reason we have come forth in these physical bodies, and why our Universe continues to expand and evolve.
The choosing of positive thoughts is the work we have come to do.
So, I pose the challenge, what positive thought can you summon right now to get your train heading towards that glorious, eternal sun?
